Administrators can trigger emergency broadcasts from any phone or via web/mobile app. The alert plays simultaneously on all phones across campus (classrooms, offices, common areas) and sends text messages to all staff mobile numbers. You can broadcast to the entire campus or specific buildings/zones. Common uses include lockdowns, weather emergencies, early dismissals, and all-clear notifications.
Can parents report absences after hours?
Yes. Parents call the attendance line any time and the AI captures student name, date(s) of absence, and reason. The AI confirms receipt, and staff review absence reports each morning. Reports can also be sent to your student information system through the SIPSTACK API and webhooks. This eliminates morning phone congestion and ensures accurate attendance tracking.
How do automated parent notifications work?
SIPSTACK sends voice and/or text notifications to parent phone numbers on file. Common notifications include: school closures, early dismissals, event reminders, lunch menu changes, and grade alerts. You can send to specific grades, homerooms, or the entire school. Messages are sent in the parent's preferred language if configured.
What student information systems do you integrate with?
SIPSTACK connects to any student information system with a OneRoster API, including PowerSchool, Infinite Campus and Skyward. Caller ID shows the parent or student along with their students’ names and grades. OneRoster does not accept attendance, so attendance sync and other write-backs go through the SIPSTACK API, SDKs and webhooks, as do regional or proprietary systems.
Can teachers have phone numbers that work from home?
Absolutely. Each teacher gets an extension that can ring their classroom phone, mobile phone, or both. When working remotely, calls route to their mobile device automatically. Teachers see the school caller ID when receiving calls, not their personal number. Voicemail and features work the same whether in classroom or at home.
